The German gym team’s slogan is “wir für D” aka “we’re for Deutschland” aka Germany but I’m just seeing it as we’re for the D and I’m so happy.

haha omg I’ve never thought of it that way! It’s the Olympic team’s slogan and it’s more like “us for Germany”.

Anonymous asked: Have you heard about Janine Berger's torn ACL already? That fall was so heartbreaking:( Do you think she has a chance to medal in Glasgow or in Rio? Given, that she comes back strong and healthy of course! With McKayla Maroney out for the season and Skinner's one armed Cheng (if she goes to Worlds) I really hoped she could content for a medal in Nanning!!

I HAAAAAVE!!! I was so devastated. It happened on a tsuk double in EFs at German Nationals…. AND ULLA KOCH (head coach) IS FURIOUS THAT SHE DID THE DOUBLE INSTEAD OF THE FULL she was like “When I saw the vault number, I just thought to myself ‘this cannot be happening.’ I just assumed people would listen to my advice.” Cause she had seen Berger do it at verification a few weeks ago and knew she could do it so she didn’t want her to risk it at Nationals where she would win anyway…. So that must be tough on Janine.

I hope she can come back. She has the worst luck with injuries, but she seems like a fighter and her body seems to bounce back relatively fast (like in September 2013 her ankle was in a cast and then in December she was on the German team at the Stuttgart World Cup.)

I think, if she can get her Rudi and the Tsuk double back, she will always have medal potential on vault. BUT her execution can be sloppy sometimes and let’s face it - her competition in Glasgow and Rio will be fierce…. Biles, Maroney (possibly) and then you have wild cards like Steingruber, Hong Un Jong, any other amazing vaulter who might’ve upgraded. It’s going to be tough but I do think, based on the current German team and junior talents, she still has a shot at Rio.

Shame about Nanning because she had a good shot at a medal.

Anonymous asked: Is it "Martha Karolyi" or "Marta Karolyi"? I've looked online and it seems to be a mix of both. I've also seen you use both so I was quite confused. Thanks in advance! (:

my-bff-nastia:

It’s Martha technically and officially but pronounced Marta. Like the th isn’t really like the English th sound so if you see it spelled Martha it’s still pronounced Marta. Sometimes people write it as both if they don’t know better or I’ll spell it that way if I’m talking to people who aren’t gym fans or don’t know better so they know to pronounce it correctly.

really? according to her wikipedia it’s Márta… which makes sense cause that’s the Hungarian spelling so I guess it’d be similar in Romanian. But then again, it’s wikipedia so…
